H.E. Valery Brilev (58) holds diplomas from the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Architecture, and of the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages.

From 1981 to 1990 he worked as an architect at the design institute in Minsk, and from 1990 to 1992 as a lecturer at the Soviet Culture Centre in Belgrade. From 1992-1994 he was employed at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, then as the second secretary of the department for bilateral cooperation of the MFA RB.

From 1995 to 1996 he acted as the second and then first secretary of the Embassy of Belarus in Bulgaria, and from 1996 to 1998 as the first secretary, advisor of the Belarusian Embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) then Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the FRY.

From 1998 to 2001 Mr Brilev was ambassador to the FRY, followed by a year as head of the Department for bilateral cooperation with CIS member states.

From 2002 to 2006 he was the first head of the department for the CIS states at the MFA RB then head of the department for bilateral relations with CIS countries. From 2006 to 2010 he was Ambassador of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan, and then from 2010 to 2013 ambassador to Kazakhstan.

From 2013 to 2017, Brilev served as a foreign policy adviser to the President of the Republic of Belarus, and since April 2017 has been Ambassador of Belarus and on a non-resident basis ambassador to Macedonia and Montenegro. Mr. Brilev speaks Serbian and English. He is married and has a daughter.
