Ukraine consistently adheres to the principle of the territorial integrity of Serbia, said the Ukrainian ambassador in Belgrade H.E. Volodymyr Tolkach.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia emphasized that there is not a single document that would cast doubt on the territorial integrity of Serbia.

As he noted, it is difficult to explain to Ukrainian citizens why Ukraine does not support the independence of the so-called Kosovo, while Pristina supports Ukraine everywhere.

“Ukraine’s current cooperation with Kosovo is at a much lower level than Russia’s. Russia has opened an office in Kosovo, but Ukraine has not,” said Tolkach in an interview with the Autonomija portal, with the hope that the dialogue in Brussels between Belgrade and Pristina will bring success.

The Ukrainian ambassador expressed his gratitude to Serbia. “We are grateful to Serbia for not recognizing the occupation of Crimea and its annexation to the Russian Federation. We are grateful that that step was taken, but we hope that Serbia will take the next one as well”, Tolkach pointed out and concluded:

“I will repeat to you what your president Aleksandar Vučić and other officials have said: Serbia is neither on the side of Russia nor on the side of Ukraine, but defends its national interests. As a Ukrainian, I would be very pleased if the interests of Serbia and Ukraine, as candidates for the EU, coincided.”
