The Ministry of Finance stated that in this year’s Fiscal Transparency Report of the US Department of State, it was stated that Serbia is on the list of countries whose transparency in public finances management is rated positively, which means that it is recognised as a country whose citizens know how public money is spent.
Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali assessed that the report is the result of all the reforms implemented so far in public finances.
“This is excellent news and shows us that the successful management of public finances does not only mean good management of citizens’ money, but that process must also be absolutely transparent because citizens must know what their money is spent on and participate in it through the mechanisms provided for it”, Mali said.
According to the Minister, this is not just one in a series of financial reports without further effects, but it rather contains the parameters on the basis of which investors choose which countries to invest in.
Such reports draw investment maps for capital, and in the 21st century attracting money to your country is the most important struggle. We are on the right track and we must maintain the level of direct foreign investments at a high level in order to get through the coming years as painlessly as possible, Mali underlined.
