On his state visit to Serbia, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has once again confirmed Greece’s unchanging stance regarding Kosovo and Metohija, championing the role of European intervention and dialogue as the key to resolving tensions and fostering stability in the region.
Mitsotakis, at a joint press briefing, declared, “Greece’s position on Kosovo is firm, and we are convinced that dialogue under European auspices is the only way forward to mend relations. This endeavor is crucial for the stability we all seek in the region.”
Highlighting Greece’s unwavering support for Serbia’s journey towards European integration, Mitsotakis pointed to his active engagement in discussions about the EU’s expansion policy in Brussels, advocating for a European trajectory for Serbia and the broader Western Balkan region.
Joined by a cadre of ministers and a significant contingent from the Greek commercial sector, Mitsotakis outlined plans to deepen economic cooperation between Greece and Serbia, with a focus on the energy and transportation sectors.
Mitsotakis also touched upon the profound and historical ties binding Greece and Serbia, attributing their strong relationship to shared historical experiences beyond mere geographic closeness. Reflecting on his visit, Mitsotakis remarked, “Visiting Belgrade always feels like returning home, a sentiment shared by my team and me, buoyed by the noticeable advancements in our bilateral relations,” underscoring the enduring affinity between the two nations.
