In a recent report by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol), Istanbul Airport has been identified as Europe’s busiest airport for the second consecutive year. In 2023, the airport averaged a remarkable 1,375 flights per day.

Eurocontrol’s comprehensive analysis of European aviation in 2023 offers insights beyond flight frequency, encompassing passenger numbers, on-time departures, traffic flows, and aviation fuel prices.

Istanbul Airport’s continued dominance in the region, marked by a 19% increase in traffic compared to the previous year, underscores its pivotal role in European aviation. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport trailed with an average of 1,255 flights, followed by London’s Heathrow with 1,251, Paris Charles de Gaulle with 1,247, and Frankfurt Airport with 1,179 flights.
