Sberbank is the only Russian brand among the top 25 most valuable banking brands in the world according to the annual Brand Finance rating.

In addition, Sberbank has been named the most valuable Russian brand in the Brand Finance Global 500 ranking.

The value of the Sberbank brand grew by 27.5% (or $2.5 billion) over the past year to $11.6 bln.

“The high position that our brand occupies in this international rating is a testament to our entire team’s efforts to enhance the services we offer. Sberbank Group’s new 2020 Development Strategy involves further increasing the level of flexibility, speed and client-centricity by introducing new technology,” said Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank.

“This year Sberbank delivered excellent results in terms of brand value and brand strength. Russians view the advantages of the brand as even more convincing – this is clear from its high score in Brand Finance’s study of client capital, which our rating is based on.

Start-ups and tech ecosystems are encroaching upon the financial services sector. However, the favourable position Sberbank occupies in terms of its brand provides a firm foundation for the bank to adapt and continue producing top results,” commented David Haigh, CEO and founder of Brand Finance plc.

“Sberbank has once again demonstrated its global significance. Its brand value is reinforced by an active innovation policy, a bold and pragmatic approach, and the ability to carefully manage risks, competently shape the loan portfolio and transform into one of the most modern and highly-developed ecosystems in the global banking landscape,” said Alexey Kovylov, CEO of the Russian Association of Communication Agencies.
