German Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Axel Dittmann visited the Šabac plant of the Hemofarm pharmaceuticals company, noting that Hemofarm presents a good example of successful cooperation between a company and city authorities.

Ambassador said Hemofarm is one of the biggest German investments in Serbia, employing 2,600 people in the country and contributing to economic growth in Vršac, northeastern Serbia, and Šabac, western Serbia.

The close cooperation and partnership between Hemofarm and Šabac are crucial in efforts to make the city an even more attractive place for investments, a statement quoted Dittmann as saying.

Accompanied by Šabac Mayor Nebojša Zelenović and Hemofarm managers, Dittmann toured a factory that annually produces over 55 mln packages of medicines, marketed in 38 countries around the world.

Dittmann’s visit was a symbolic start of marking a decade of Hemofarm’s operations as part of the STADA group.

Since acquiring Hemofarm in 2006, the German-based group has invested over €200 mlns in upgrading equipment and production, as well as in workforce training.
