H.E. Ms Nada Al Akl graduated from the American university of Beirut and joined the Lebanese Foreign Service in 1999. Since then she has served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Lebanon in Ottawa, Canada (2000-02), First Secretary at the Embassy of Lebanon in Amman, Jordan (2002-05), Deputy Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the UN Office & International Organisations in Geneva (2005-08), in the Department of International Organisations, Conferences and Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in Beirut (2008-09), and as Consul General in Istanbul, Turkey (2009-10), tasked with the mission of being Head of the Observer Coordination Unit (OCU) at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, in relation to parliamentary elections and a secondment mission in June 2009.
From 2010 to 2011 she served in the Protocol Department at the Presidential Palace, then became Chief of the Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Beirut (2011-12), before serving a five-year term (2012-17) as Deputy Chief of Mission in Nicosia, Cyprus. Ambassador Nada Al Akl speaks Arabic, French and English fluently, as well as a basic level of Spanish.
