Nearly 400 Serbian companies made a significant impact on the global stage in 2023, participating in 22 international fairs abroad.

This initiative, led by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) in collaboration with the Serbian Development Agency (RAS), has marked a notable stride in the country’s export ambitions.

The PKS reported that these prestigious global expos witnessed Serbian exporters engaging in over 13,000 meetings with business partners, culminating in export deals exceeding €75 million.

“Our goal for the coming year is to maintain this level of promotion for our companies’ export offerings at leading international fairs. In planning these events, we always consider markets where Serbian products and companies are in demand, as well as those with potential for expanding our export reach across entire regions,” stated Jovanka Ćalina, Head of the PKS’s Fair Centre.

According to Ćalina, export-oriented companies are showing an unprecedented interest in participating in fairs. They value direct meetings and contacts with potential buyers as an opportunity to access new markets, a challenge difficult to overcome through online channels alone.

In 2023, Serbian companies showcased their offerings at leading world fairs, including PRODEXPO in Moscow, GULFOOD in Dubai, PROWEIN in Düsseldorf, PLMA in Amsterdam, GITEX in Dubai, ANUGA in Cologne, AGRITECHNICA in Hanover, among others.

Ćalina emphasised the significant role of these fairs, not only benefiting exhibitors and organisers but also potential buyers and visitors. These events serve as platforms for showcasing the latest trends and innovations in various industries.

“The number and type of fairs, along with the results achieved, are indicators of a country’s economic development. Over decades, PKS has earned a high reputation for organising these international exhibitions, receiving significant awards for successfully promoting Serbian industry abroad,” Ćalina believes.

PKS’s strategic goals include creating conducive conditions for export growth, presenting products and services, and establishing partnerships between Serbian firms and international businesses through organised participation in major international fair events.

“Apart from conquering new markets and enhancing presence in existing ones, our aim is to brand Serbia as an attractive investment and business destination. Establishing economic ties abroad and integrating local companies into international value chains are our priorities,” conclude the PKS representatives.
