Serbia is determined to become a full member of the International Organization of La Francophonie, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić during the meeting with representatives of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors.

Dačić discussed with his interlocutors the possibilities of improving Serbia’s cooperation with La Francophonie, emphasizing country’s commitment to the values ​​of the organization – the promotion of peace, democracy, human rights, intercultural cooperation, dialogue and solidarity.

He also reminded of the series of concrete steps that Serbia has taken in the direction of accession to Francophonie, and informed the GAF representatives that he will lead the Serbian delegation at the upcoming ministerial conference and summit of Francophonie from 18 to 20 November.

During the meeting, the GAF representatives proposed initiatives that could contribute to greater visibility of Serbia in the International Organization of La Francophonie, and therefore to its full membership in this organization, as well as greater visibility and legitimacy of La Francophonie in the Serbian public.

Francophonie is an international organization representing a group of states, countries and regions that use French as a national language, official language, language of international communication and as a working language. It consists of 53 member countries, two (Cyprus and Ghana) associated countries and thirteen countries (Armenia, Austria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine and Mozambique) observers at the summits of the organization.

Modern Francophonie was created in 1970, and today it is an important international organization whose member countries cooperate in the fields of culture, science, economy, justice and peace.
