In 2022, Norway earned five times more from the sale of oil and gas compared to previous years, thanks to record high energy prices, announced the state company Petoro.
Petoro paid 46.6 billion euros into the state treasury, which is five times more than in “normal” years, according to the report.
The reason for this is the fact that Russian exports decreased due to sanctions, and Norway increased its performance in supplying Europe with gas to 30 percent.
“Safe and stable supply of gas to Europe is now more important than ever, and Norway is a guarantor in that segment as a predictable and long-term supplier,” said Petoro CEO Christine Kragset.
