The archeological site of Mediana in Nis has reopened to visitors ten years after it was closed for site works, including new excavations, mosaic conservation and the construction of access paths.
The ancient complex of Constantine the Great was opened for visitors by the Vice President of the Government of Serbia and the Minister of Culture Maja Gojković, the Mayor of Niš Dragana Sotirovski and the Director of the National Museum in Niš Vesna Crnoglavac, and on that occasion it was said that the Ministry of Culture spent 185 million for the works carried out in the past decade dinars.
Gojković emphasized that in the past ten years, experts from the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and the City Institute, architects and archaeologists worked on this project, so that today in the eyes of the public this site would look completely ready for visits.
The mentioned project, as she explained, is the result of ten years of joint work of the Republic, the Government, i.e. the Ministry of Culture, the City of Nis, but above all the National Museum.
She announced that in a few days the two missing mosaics will be available to the public, which will ensure the complete completion of the coverage of that archaeological site.
