On the eve of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock pointed out that the EU must not only continue to provide support to the Western Balkans, but also fulfill its promise to bring the region into the Union.

In a statement to the press, Baerbock pointed out that it is known that the Western Balkans in particular have been and remain exposed to pressure and influence from Russia.

“That is why it is important not only to continue to provide support, but also to fulfill the promise we made to the Western Balkans that we will bring it into the EU, at different speeds, based on progress,” she said.

Baerbock also pointed out that for the countries of the region, that means that they must implement European policies, that is, provide support and apply sanctions, which most are already doing, reports Tanjug.

“It is important for me personally to support Kosovo and Serbia in the process of normalization of relations. That is the path they must take together in order to maintain the European perspective,” Baerbock explained.
