Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirović, and  regional manager for central and south-east Europe of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Ary Naim, have signed an agreement on cooperation in preparing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Projects for infrastructure.

Through this agreement, the International Finance Corporation will cooperate with the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure on developing high quality documentation for PPP infrastructure projects, and will bear 80 percent of the costs.

Momirović pointed out that this agreement lays the foundations for the full utilization of all transport capacities and positioning Serbia as an important traffic hub.

“To achieve this goal, we have to carry out some important projects to develop river and air traffic, which is why signing this document is very important”, said Momirović.

He judged that Nikola Tesla airport, which has had good results despite the pandemic, is an example of a good concession, observing that in Serbia, ports must by law be developed through concessions.

Momirović said that inter-modal terminals will soon be considered for development according to the PPP and concession model.

“In cooperation with the IFC, our country will receive the highest quality concession documentation for PPP projects. The first two projects are the ports of Prahovo and Bogojevo”, said Momirović.
