Ericsson announced today the establishment of a new Digital Services Service Delivery (DSSD) hub in Belgrade, accelerating 5G momentum in Serbia. This newly-unveiled hub will focus on network virtualization and cloud native 5G networks, benefitting the global 5G ecosystem and leveraging on the existing Ericsson collaboration with Serbian mobile operators.

The announcement marks the 25th anniversary of Ericsson in Serbia and was made during an open discussion meeting about “5G for growth and innovation in Serbia” organized by H.E. Mr. Jan Lundin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Serbia, on the occasion of the visit of a Swedish parliamentary delegation headed by the Speaker of the Parliament, H.E. Mr Andreas Norlen. The meeting was attended, among others, by key representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Interior, Serbian mobile operators and Antonio Passarella, Country Manager of Ericsson Serbia.

Ericsson’s DSSD hub in Serbia has already recruited more than 20 local talents and continues its recruitment addressing University students in various disciplines and positions. The establishment of the hub in Serbia is leveraging on the strategic partnerships Ericsson has established since more than a decade with key Universities across the country.

As we move into 5G, mobile networks will have to support a much broader range of services and amount of data larger than ever before, with increased levels of intelligence, virtualization and automation. Ericsson Digital Services Service Delivery hub will work at the core of this network evolution to 5G, delivering intelligent solutions that impact people, businesses and society on a local and global scale, allowing service providers to open up new revenue streams, step into enterprise business ventures, and deliver exceptional end-user experiences.

DSSD hub recruits are expected to work on the most advanced, state-of-the-art technologies for 5G networks, like e.g. network function virtualization, cloud native applications and infrastructure, network automation and AI, not just for Serbia but for an array of Ericsson customers across Europe and Latin America.

Antonio Passarella, Country Manager of Ericsson Serbia, says: “5G is an unmatched platform for open innovation and is expected to boost Serbia’s economy and global competitiveness. It can help attract more long-term investment in the country and propel our country’s growing digital economy into the future. Our new DSSD hub comes at the right time as it will play a key role in accelerating adoption of 5G in Serbia and elsewhere. It is yet another proof of our long-term commitment and continuos investment done to support Serbia’s young talents and spread digital skills.”
