Politika’s 2019 Literary Award for the novel aimed for the young audience this year went to Sonja Ciric’s “I Won’t Think About Prague” by Laguna.
Explaining the decision, the jury of prof. Lidija Merenik, PhD, President, Zoran Simjanovic, Aleksandar Kostic, Tihomir Stanic and Petar Milatovic emphasized:
“Sonja Ciric’s novel is a harmonious and subtly nuanced story of family relationships, growing up, friendships that are not always devoid of anxiety, compassion and rivalry.”
This year Politika Awarded 78 titles. In addition to the winner, shortlisted were the books of Srdjan Protic, Vesna Corovic Butric, Uros Petrovic, Otto Oltvagni and Vesna Aleksic.
On the occasion of receiving the award, Sonja Ciric stated that she was extremely impressed that she was selected for the Award.”This is a great honour for me, especially since I consider the Politika Award to be a tribute to the Nin Prize in the world of children’s literature.”
Otherwise, the novel “I Won’t Think About Prague” has already won the Best Children’s Book Award at the 64th Belgrade International Book Fair.
