The Embassy of India in Belgrade marked the 77th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2023, within the premises of the Chancery.

Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Mr. Sandeep Kumar, raised the national flag and delivered the address to the Nation as conveyed by the Honourable President. Over the past two years, the Embassy has orchestrated a series of events to spotlight India’s rich cultural heritage and illustrious history, as part of the celebrations under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav stands as a nationwide and community-driven endeavor to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, along with the remarkable history of its people, culture, and accomplishments.

In conjunction with this occasion, the Embassy also curated an exhibition featuring Indian Freedom fighters and a collection of Indian handicraft items. Moreover, the Embassy organized video screenings, highlighting the villages of India and its vibrant cultural and artistic traditions as part of the “MERA GAON MERI DHAROHAR” campaign. The event saw an attendance of approximately 100 guests, including Indian nationals, PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), and friends of India in Serbia.
