In a celebration of India’s 75th Republic Day on 26 January 2024, the Indian Embassy in Belgrade, under the aegis of Ambassador Shubhdarshini Tripathi, marked the occasion with grandeur.

The day commenced with the traditional unfurling of the Indian tricolour, followed by Ambassador H.E. Tripathi reciting the Indian President’s address, amidst the presence of the Indian diaspora and Serbian aficionados of Indian culture.

The festivities continued into the afternoon at the Hyatt in Belgrade, hosting an esteemed gathering of around 150, including Serbia’s Minister for Internal and Foreign Trade, Tomislav Momirovic, as the guest of honour. The event saw an amalgamation of diplomatic, governmental, and cultural luminaries, further enriched by a classical Indian dance performance, showcasing the deep-rooted cultural ties and burgeoning relations between India and Serbia, commemorating 75 years of diplomatic camaraderie.

This year’s Republic Day not only reflects India’s constitutional journey since 1950 but also underscores the nation’s commitment to democratic values, enshrined in its Preamble as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. The main spectacle in New Delhi, replete with a display of India’s defence acumen and rich cultural heritage, underscored themes of women empowerment and military might, symbolising India’s progressive stride on the global stage.
