Chinese Ambassador Li Ming has voiced his support for resolving the Kosovo* issue through dialogue, emphasizing that any solution should align with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, while fully respecting Serbia’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
In a statement to RTS, Chinese Ambassador Li Ming stressed the importance of addressing the Kosovo and Metohija issue through dialogue, advocating for a resolution that adheres to the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244. Li underscored the necessity of upholding Serbia’s sovereign, independent, and territorial integrity in its entirety.
“We have been closely monitoring recent developments in Kosovo* with concern. We believe that any unilateral actions could potentially escalate tensions and spread panic, which would serve no party’s interests involved in this dispute, nor would it benefit the peace and stability of the region,” Li remarked.
He expressed hope for the implementation of the 2013 Brussels Agreement and the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, stating, “In principle, we hope for the Kosovo* issue to be resolved based on international law and within the confines of the relevant UN resolutions. We respect and appreciate Serbia’s political efforts to address this issue and hope to maintain close communication on this critical matter.”
Ambassador Li also highlighted the deep political trust established between China and Serbia, recognizing each other as equal partners in areas of mutual interest and concern. “We deeply value Serbia’s support for the One-China Principle, and our mutual understanding and support are significant to both nations,” he added.
