Company Siemens d.o.o. Belgrade, in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade and student organization of the Association of Electrical Engineering Students of Europe – EESTEC Local Committee Belgrade, for the fourth time in Serbia, organizes a free professional workshop followed by regional student competition from automation, SIM (P) ATIC PLC + Challenge 2019.
Prof attended the opening ceremony of the competition. Milo Tomašević, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Udo Eichlinger, CEO of Siemens d.o.o. Belgrade, prof. Dr Goran Kvaščev from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and prof. Dr Milan Ristanovic, the professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
For the fourth year, Siemens has been organising free, professional workshops that provide young, future experts with a more detailed insight into the issues engineers face in industrial automation. A total of 13 teams from Serbia will be surprised at the local competition in solving the task with the use of Siemens PLC software, and the two best teams will be placed on the regional finals in Zagreb.
“This is an excellent example of cooperation between Siemens, the student organisation EESTEC and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Four years ago, we started with this project, which is now traditionally organised. The PLC project is a great opportunity for students to upgrade their knowledge gained from lessons,” said Prof. Dr Milo Tomasevic, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade.
“I would like to thank you for the cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the student organisation EESTEC, the fourth year of organising the project is an indicator that we are doing a good project and that the combination of theoretical and practical knowledge gives the best results. From professors and our engineers, as well as colleagues from the economy, students will be able to learn more about the topic that interests them and upgrade knowledge about working with programmable logic controllers, and one of the goals of the competition is to prepare the participants better for working in the business environment. I wish luck to all the teams that applied, and I hope that one of you will be a regional winner,” said Mr Udo Eichlinger, CEO of Siemens d.o.o. Belgrade.

The competition is regional, and the first part is held at the same time in Zagreb, Ljubljana and Belgrade, while two teams from each country will take part in the final in Zagreb.
Siemens has provided the practice in the local company for the members of the winning team from each country and the visit of Siemens references in Rijeka.
