CANSEE Canadian Serbian Business Association, under the auspices of Nevsun Resources, and in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to Serbia and the Embassy of Serbia to Canada, organized a Canadian Serbian business event on March 4, in Toronto.

The aim of the event was to present Serbia as a good place to invest; strengthen and improve bilateral trade and economic relations, reinforce contacts, and make Canada and Serbia stronger economic partners.

Mirjana Dončić Beaton, Executive Director of CANSEE Canadian Serbian Business Association, opened the event by greeting all the guests, after which Aleksandar Obrenović, President of the Board of Directors of the CANSEE Association, HE Kati Csaba, Ambassador of Canada to Serbia, and Stevica Dedjanski, State Secretary of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia addressed to the audience.

HE Csaba pointed out that even though the primary reason for visiting Toronto is the presence at the world’s largest mining convention (PDAC), the partnership between the two countries is not limited only to this industry, and that good trade and investment relations are present across the whole range of sectors. “We are very keen to continue and develop the cooperation, and as an Embassy of Canada in Serbia, support your companies in those efforts,” Csaba said.

“I am glad that I can say that Serbia is a stable country today, that makes progress every year. The policy of the Government of Serbia is to attract as many foreign investors as possible. My presence at today’s event is a proof of that and we’ll do as much as we can to help you and make it possible“, said Dedjanski.

Besides the representatives of both governments, more than 60 members of the Canadian business community and the Serbian diaspora attended the event.
