Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today in London, after a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, that the EBRD should approve a loan to Serbia at tomorrow’s meeting of the Board of Directors in the amount of €80 million, of which €70 million will be earmarked for the construction of additional science and technology parks.

At a joint conference with Renaud-Basso, Brnabic specified that the loan will be formally approved tomorrow, while the signing is scheduled for 16 June in Belgrade.

She stated that the funds are intended for phase 2 of the Science and Technology Park in Nis, where there will be another Science and Technology Park, then for phase 2 of the Science and Technology Park in Cacak, for the Science and Technology Park in Krusevac, and an investment in the Science and Technology Park Kragujevac is also being considered.

According to her, there will be financial resources for Belgrade as well, although phase 2 of the Science and Technology Park in Belgrade is already being worked on with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

We continue to invest, first of all, in our young, educated, creative and innovative people, and what is particularly important is that we continue to invest outside Belgrade, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that cooperation between Serbia and the EBRD is excellent in the field of energy, green transition, energy efficiency and sustainability, the Green Agenda, but also when it comes to better air quality in Serbia.

She also reminded of the additional loan for “Electricity of Serbia”, which is conditional on auctions for new capacities from RES, and expressed her belief that in the next ten days the first auction will be announced for providing incentives to producers of electricity from RES and new capacities.
