The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Joseph Borrell said, after the meeting with the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Aljbin Kurti, in Brussels, that “unfortunately, no agreement was reached”, and added that, despite everything, he is not giving up.”

Stating that the most important topics on the agenda of the talks between the two sides, under the mediation of the EU, were the recent tensions regarding the implementation of the reciprocity measures of the Kosovo government on license plates and personal documents, which was postponed to 1st September, he pointed out that “the international community does not wants to see new tensions in the coming period” and reiterated that the parties will be fully responsible for any escalation on the ground.
“We need to continue the talks, we need to look for a solution, the process will continue,” Borrell said.He pointed out that he made it clear to the leaders of the two countries that joining the EU should remain their ultimate goal, and both of them committed to that, and for that they must find a way to progress on that path.
According to Borrell, the first step is to look for a solution to the current situation.
