Greece claims that feta is part of its cultural heritage because the country made sheep and goat milk cheese for over 6,000 years.
This European country scored a win in its fight to protect the right to the term ‘Feta’ as Europe’s top court based in Luxembourg, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), agreed with its assertion.
This comes as the court ruled against Denmark and says the country has mislabelled white cheese as “feta” and allowed local companies to use the name for sales outside the European Union.
