H.E. Christopher Hill, the US Ambassador to Belgrade, stated that choices must be made and that this is such a moment for Serbia. He said that there is only one way for Serbia, and that is the West and the European Union (EU).
“Unlike in the past, when in Serbia it was thought that there was a third way, that Serbia is neither East nor West, and that it is somehow special, that it goes its own way, now most Serbs think there is a right way and a wrong way and want to choose the right path,” ambassador Hill told Politika.
Ambassador Hill said that Serbia must decide whether it wants to have a self-sufficient army and buy weapons from different countries, or join the collective defense.
U.S. ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said that Ukraine and Kosovo are two very different situations, and said that there should be no linking of what happened in Kosovo in 1999 with what is happening in Ukraine today. “When it comes to Kosovo and Serbia, they are neighboring countries. Serbs live in Kosovo and there are many things in Kosovo that are important to Serbia. Good neighbors have to solve that. The right way is the dialogue that is taking place through the EU and the negotiations in Brussels,” ambassador Hill said.
