Since 2022, a staggering 173 types of minerals have been identified in China, as reported by the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources at the 25th Mining Conference and Exhibition in Tianjin, located in the north of the country.
The report, titled “Mineral Resources of China 2023,” emphasises the recent advancements in geological and mineral research and assessment. By the end of 2022, the findings in China included 13 types of energy minerals, 59 types of metallic minerals, 95 types of non-metallic minerals, and six types of water and gas minerals.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that in 2022, there was an almost 40% increase in mineral reserves in China. Notably, there was a significant surge in reserves of minerals like copper, lead, zinc, nickel, cobalt, lithium, beryllium, gallium, germanium, fluorite, and crystalline graphite.
The three-day conference in Tianjin, themed “Innovations Promote High-Quality Mining Development,” attracted over 260 participating companies and around 5,000 attendees from nearly 30 countries and regions, as per Chinese media sources.
