Ambassador of Finland, H.E. Pertti Ikonen, hosted the reception held at his residence, marking 171st Independence day of Finland.
In his speech, Ambassador of Finland Pertti Ikonen stressed that Finland fully supports the process of Serbia’s progress in European integrations, as well as the enlargement of the European Union to the countries of the Western Balkans. This topic will be the focus when Finland takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2019.
In support of the global #HeForShe campaign that Ambassador Ikonen helped launch in Serbia, he said on the occasion of marking National Day, that he will no longer take part in all-male panels and discussions.
One of the most technologically advanced economies in Europe, Finland celebrates its Independence Day in memory of December 6, 1917, when independence from the Russian Empire and the end of the Grand Duchy was declared.
The reception was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, public and cultural life.
