On the occasion of Belgium’s National Day, the ambassador of Belgium and Mrs Leo D’aes organised a festive reception at their residence, on 27th July, the day of their 25th silver wedding anniversary.

In a festive atmosphere, the guest, including Speaker of Parliament Maja Gojkovic, Deputy Prime Minister Udovički, and Minister of Defense Djordjevic, enjoyed Belgian beers and other culinary specialities.

Belgian National Day is actually celebrated on 21st July – the date in 1831 when Leopold of Saxe-Coburg swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus becoming the first King of the Belgians. The king’s vow marked the start of the independent state of Belgium under a constitutional monarchy and parliament.
