Excellent Italian musicians and artists will bring the magic of chamber music, opera, jazz, pop and contemporary dance to Serbia
Music will provide a special contribution to this year’s celebrations of the double bilateral anniversary in many forms.
Music is an integral part of national life and identity, and there’s no need for us to refer to musical history and the influence of Italian musicians on its development. Such a rich heritage encourages shared projects and bilateral cooperation, which represent the very basis of our 2019 programme, along with promotions of the diversity of Italy’s musical civilisation.
There will be concerts dedicated to 20th-century avant-garde music, like those of Alessandra Celletti or trumpet virtuoso Mauro Maur, a dedicated interpreter of Morricone’s music. A number of interesting projects related to opera will also be brought to a greater degree of development. Maestro Veronesi, the conductor and main driver of the present revival of Puccini’s art around the world, is coming to Belgrade this year to perform several shows.

Italian jazz musicians will also form part of the Serbian Jazz Festival circuit.
Pop star Eros Ramazzotti will come to Belgrade in September to perform for the joy of his fans, while dance and theatre shows will complete the season of Italian culture. The Italian contemporary dance scene will be represented in the splendid Belgrade Dance Festival, masterfully directed by Aja Jung, by Rome-based dance company “Spellbound”, with a show dedicated to the life of 19th-century composer Gioachino Rossini. Other surprises related to performing arts from Italy will be revealed in the second half of the year.
