Government officials in the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area of Taiwan, one of the most popular tourist zones on the island, decided to construct the glass high-heeled shoe last June.
Since then, construction has been underway to erect the fifty-five-foot tall glass church. With Chinese New Year The structure was opened to the public on February 8 for Chinese New Year.
The church is made up of 320 blue-tinted glass panels and is over 11 meters wide. On the ‘roof’ of the shoe, there is a large stage, complete with spotlights.
While the construct is officially listed as a church, members of the tourism board state that instead of regular services the new will be used for wedding ceremonies and photo shoots, hence the stage and spotlights.
