A memorial plaque with the image of legendary basketball coach Ranko Žeravice has been unveiled at a sports hall in New Belgrade that will now bear his name.

The memorial plaque was revealed by New Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić, president and vice president of the Basketball Federation of Serbia, Dragan Đilas and Dejan Tomašević, and Mrs Zaga Žeravica, Ranko’s widow.

The Basketball Federation of Serbia’s proposal that the Municipality of New Belgrade renames the hall in honour of this legendary coach, who achieved excellent results with the Partizan club at the venue, formerly Hala Sportova, was quickly approved.

The meeting was attended by the president of the Red Star Basketball Club, Nebojša Čović, Red Star Director Davor Ristović, Partizan Director Mlađan Šilobad, legendary basketball player Zoran Moka Slavnić, famous coach Vlade Đurović, and many others.
