The theme of Nice’s 2017 Carnival this year (February 11, to February 26) was “energy”.

From interpersonal energy and technological energy to economic and ecological energy. For its 133rd Carnaval, Nice went with the spirit of the times. Energy is more important than ever, the headline of every front page, especially with the implementation of resolutions made at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

The Nice Carnival was the “Roi de l’Energy,” or the King of Energy, dancing through the streets of the capital of the Côte d’Azur. The 2017 edition of the Nice Carnival, as usual, was made up of two distinct spectacles: the Carnival Parade (or the Corso Carnavalesque), which continued from the daytime into the night, and the Bataille de Fleurs.

Storytelling and burlesque floats were processed through the Place Masséna, accompanied by a mix of street art shows and mini-concerts by international music groups.
