Marking a significant shift in the labor markets of Southeast Europe, Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia have forged an essential agreement, coming into effect on March 1st, that will allow their citizens the freedom to live and work freely across the three countries. Known officially as the Agreement on Conditions for Free Access to the Labor Market under the Open Balkans initiative, this move ushers in a new era of regional cooperation and economic integration.

It was over three years ago that the leaders of these nations made the visionary decision to dismantle the traditional barriers to employment and residency. This agreement facilitates citizens of these countries to seek employment, live, and work in any of the three nations, effectively integrating their labor markets into a single, seamless entity under the Open Balkans framework.

The influx of investments expected to follow is likely to generate numerous job opportunities, invigorating the economic scenario across the Western Balkans.
