Serbia has dispatched a fresh consignment of aid to Ukraine, an occasion graced by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, Minister for European Integration Tanja Miščević, Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkač, and EU Ambassador to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.

The Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia acknowledged Serbia’s gesture of solidarity, stating that the aid would be long-remembered. “I would like to express gratitude to Serbia for extending humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Thank you!” conveyed Ambassador Giaufret.

Although the aid is a direct contribution from Serbia to Ukraine, Giaufret reminded that the European Union has already provided substantial assistance to Ukrainians. “We are working to bolster Ukraine’s economic and military resilience through sustained financial support—€76 billion mobilised across all sectors to back Ukraine. Our member states are providing sanctuary to refugees from Ukraine.”

Today’s dispatch marks Serbia’s second shipment to Ukraine; the first involved electrical infrastructure and was facilitated through the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM). “Recently, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and I, along with the Ukrainian Ambassador, saw off several trucks loaded with electronic equipment vital to Ukraine’s energy grid. I would also commend Serbia for welcoming Ukrainian refugees,” added Giaufret.

Ambassador Tolkač highlighted the considerable influx of Ukrainians to Serbia and commended the warm reception from the local population. “Our shared goal is living peacefully and united. The ultimate objective is life within the EU,” Tolkač concluded.

Prime Minister Brnabić confirmed Serbia’s readiness to extend further support to Ukraine. She noted that currently, more than 43,000 displaced Ukrainians are in Serbia and that the country would continue to assist and welcome even more refugees in partnership with the EU.

“We hope for peace in Ukraine and on the European continent. This will bring much good to everyone, especially the Ukrainian people,” she said, adding that the new consignment contains medicines and goods for Ukraine’s vulnerable populace.
