U.S. Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Kyle Scott unveiled seven historical markers in Pranjani, Gornji Milanovac, to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Halyard Mission, which took place in 1944 and was the largest rescue operation of downed American and Allied airmen in history. More than 500 U.S. airmen were rescued, cared for, and protected by the people of Pranjani and the Gornji Milanovac area.

Brigadier General Robert Huston, Mobilisation Assistant to the Vice Commander, Third Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, represented the U.S. Air Force at this event. He was accompanied by the United States Air Force Jazz Band, which prepared a two-hour music programme.

Ambassador Scott laid a wreath at the Galovića Field Memorial, while wreaths were also laid by the President of the Halyard Mission Foundation, John Cappello, a delegation of the Serbian Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces, a delegation of the British Embassy and Gornji Milanovac Mayor Dejan Kovačević.
