Celebrations for Canada Day and the 150th anniversary of independence were held at the Canadian ambassador’s residence.
H.E. Philip Pinnington, Canadian ambassador to Serbia, and his wife Mrs Erica Pinnington received around 600 guests. They included many ambassadors, among others those of the USA, Germany, Japan and Croatia. The celebrations were also attended by General Diković.
Ambassador Pinnington wished his guests welcome from the balcony. He told them that to be a Canadian ambassador was always an honour, but that his mandate in Serbia was the pinnacle of his career.
After his speech, members of the Belgrade International Choir sang the Canadian and Serbian national anthems, and the Oplenac cultural club danced a traditional Serbian ‘Kolo’.
