The Embassy of Sweden in Belgrade celebrated the traditional Swedish holiday of St. Lucy’s Day at Mikser House and presented the book ”Swedish Culinary Diplomacy”, edited by the long-time chef of the Embassy of Sweden in Belgrade, Lars Ekberg.
“When we understand one another, appreciate and reciprocally respect customs, traditions and holidays, then we strengthen the links between our two countries. I have had the opportunity to learn a lot about Serbia through holidays, customs and traditions,” said H.E. Swedish Ambassador Jan Lundin.
St. Lucia’s Day, or St. Lucy’s Day, is celebrated in Sweden when the nights are at their darkest and the winter is at its coldest, with the holiday representing light during the long winter nights.
The promotion of this book also marks the start of the celebration of 100 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Sweden, with a series of activities to take place during 2017.
