French Week Celebrated with New Beaujolais and French Ile de France Cheeses

Another celebration of French Week, a now traditional event, was kicked off with a grand welcoming of the new Beaujolais, powered by Belgrade Airport, at Barel House in Belgrade. This took place on the third Thursday of November, following the custom in France.

The event was opened by Dragan Stokić, President of the Franco-Serbian Chamber of Commerce. Mlekoprodukt was present to complement the Beaujolais sips with its exquisite cheeses under the Ile de France brand: Mini Rolls, Camambert, Brie, Mini Brie au Bleu, Aperifrais, Chavroux, Normental, and Biser Selekta, heralding the start of the winter holiday season with the first young wine that symbolises joy. The tasting of French cheeses and fine wine was enjoyed by over 400 guests including diplomats, directors of French and Serbian companies, renowned businessmen, and public figures.

Dragan Stokić, President of the Franco-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, announced the program for French Week, thanked the partners, and invited everyone to enjoy the evening and visit the website francuskanedelja.rs. Pierre Chosar, the French Ambassador to Serbia, representing the French Embassy, greeted the guests and commended the work of the Franco-Serbian Chamber of Commerce. François Berisot, General Director of Belgrade Airport, also wished the guests a pleasant evening.

French Week, now in its eleventh year in Serbia, aims to promote the historical, cultural, and business ties between France and Serbia, coinciding with the widely popular French tradition of welcoming the young Beaujolais Nouveau wine. This year’s French Week was supported by major French companies operating in Serbia for many years: Belgrade Airport, Mlekoprodukt Savencia Group, Keos, Veolia, Eviden, and Vizim.

Throughout French Week, a series of interesting events were organised – workshops for students to establish contacts with member companies of the Chamber, a bakery and wine workshop, and a conference titled “The Future of Work powered by Propulsion” at the French Embassy. French Week concluded with an exhibition of works titled “Do Something Drastic to Make Trash Fantastic!”, a project carried out for the second consecutive year in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development.
