In Amman’s busy city centre, the Q restaurant is offering a unique version of burgers for locals and tourists alike. It’s called the “camburger” – a hamburger made out of 100% camel meat.

The restaurant’s owner, Zeyad Al Qusous, who opened the restaurant in 2012, wanted to target foreign visitors and knew most people love burgers; tired of the usual chicken and beef burger fare offered by other restaurants throughout the city, Qusous came up with the idea for the “camburger”, and it caught on.

According to Noor al Turkmani, the restaurant’s chef, camel meat is actually healthier than the usual beef version of the burger because it is lower in fat and not as heavy on the stomach.
