Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Head of Europe and Eurasia at the World Economic Forum Martina Larkin signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Serbia and the World Economic Forum today.

The signing of this document is the result of a series of joint initiatives of the government, as well as the President of Serbia, with the World Economic Forum , and a confirmation of the vision shared by the government of Serbia and this prestigious international organisation, whose focus is the future and the developmental chances provided by the fourth industrial revolution.

Serbia has thus become the only country in the region that has signed a direct Memorandum of Understanding with the World Economic Forum, which speaks of the attention given by the World Economic Forum to Serbia and recognising the potential of Serbia – from the economy, through education, to science and innovation.

The Prime Minister stressed that with the signing of this document, Serbia is getting another reliable partner in the development of entrepreneurship, fostering innovation and knowledge-based economy, and the World Economic Forum is getting an important partner in this part of Europe.

In this way received Serbia received another confirmation of the economic reforms conducted in the previous period.

The results of our cooperation will be visible in the whole region, not only in Serbia, because we are planning several major regional initiatives, such as the establishment of the Centre for the fourth industrial revolution, as well as a regional summit of Southeast Europe in 2019, the establishment of the Competitiveness Council of the Western Balkans and cooperation with the Internet Security Centre of the World Economic Forum, she said.

This is a confirmation that the government of Serbia looks into the future and is working on creating conditions for development and progress that no generation has ever had, said Brnabic, who is a member of the New Leaders for Europe group within the World Economic Forum.

She expressed confidence that this MoU will help the development of the entire region and added that science and that we will work with the World Economic Forum for the Western Balkans to develop and modernise the economy, strengthen cooperation and stability because without a stable region there is neither individual stability nor economic development.

Larkin assessed the economic progress that Serbia has achieved in the previous period is noticeable.

According to Larkin, Serbia has shown the full potential for its further development and, more importantly, it has proven it has the potential to be a catalyst for progress in the region.
