Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia H.E. Sem Fabrizi said the EU believes that Priština’s decision to introduce taxes on goods imported from Serbia and BiH is “a violation of the CEFTA agreement” following his meeting with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

The meeting was convened to discuss the Kosovo* Government’s decision to increase taxes on Serbia and BiH imported goods from 10 to 100 per cent.

“Our position is rather clear: introducing these measures is absolutely contrary to the CEFTA agreement and the spirit of the SAA. We asked the Kosovan authorities to revoke the decision immediately,” Fabrizi said.

According to him, the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Priština dialogue is the best framework for addressing such issues.

“The EU-facilitated dialogue offers the best framework for discussion of matters such as this one, for finding a mutual solution, and I expect it to continue,” Ambassador Fabrizi said.

*This designation is without prejudice to positions on the status and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.
