The annual El Sistema and friends concert will be held on Tuesday 25th April 2017 at 8 pm in the hall of Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade, Studentski trg 5.
Assistance in the staging of this concert was provided by the European Union, the Swiss Government and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, via the European PROGRESS development programme.
Prior to the end of the school year, presenting themselves will be children – participants in the El Sistema international project from Jagodina, Paracin, Obrenovac, Novi Sad, Vranje, Surdulica and Bujanovac, under the conductor’s baton of Venezuelan artist Gerardo Estrada.
Prominent local professional jazz musicians will perform alongside them as guests. Organizers’ intent is to celebrate together with you the achievements and successes of children from El Sistema Serbia, who are anxious, after numerous international performances, to once again present themselves to the Belgrade audience in all their glory.
Programme:
At the concert, you will be able to hear, alongside works of world music greats adapted to children, how we nurture the local folk tradition in the adapting of other styles and genres. In cooperation with established musicians from the domestic jazz scene and students of the FMU’s jazz department, more than 100 children in the choir and orchestra will, thanks to the innovative arrangements of jazz musicians and teachers from the programme, perform well-known songs from various parts of Serbia embedded in the folklore and artistic traditions of other nations.
