US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill , his wife Julie and Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojičić planted three American maple trees on the banks of the river Sava, between the Gazelle and the Old Sava Bridge, in an action aimed at keeping 25 percent of urban areas under foliage.

“Belgrade has an ambitious plan to continue greening the city and making it even more beautiful. I lived in Belgrade 40 years ago and I assure you that Belgrade is a much more beautiful city than it was then. It has become a city of parks, trees and flowers”, said Hill. He added that he hoped that the US Embassy would also take part in greening Belgrade.

He also judged the results to be excellent from the meetings that American officials Karen Donfried and Gabriel Escobar held in Belgrade with Serbian officials.

“The previous and following meetings are part of a joint effort to deepen and expand our relations”, Hill told Tanjug, after taking part in the talks that US Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried and Western Balkans Special Envoy Gabriel Escobar held with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić in Belgrade.
