The COVID-19 Crisis Response Team proposed new measures to suppress the epidemic, which will be valid from tomorrow, 22 March at 6 am.

Due to the danger of spread of the infectious disease COVID-19, cafes, restaurants, night clubs and bars, as well as shopping malls will remain closed.

All food sales facilities and cultural institutions (cinemas, theatres, galleries and libraries) can work until 9 pm, and all other facilities up to 8 pm, under the following conditions:

All the facilities that are open must provide at least nine square metres per person or visitor.

Exceptions are fitness clubs, spas, gyms and the like where sixteen square metres per person must be provided.

This means that if a shop or, for example, a hair salon has 90 square metres, a maximum of 10 people can stay inside that facility at the same time.

The same rule applies to gyms – a fitness centre of 160 square meters can accommodate a maximum of 10 people. The number of persons present in the facility includes employees (hairdresser, salesperson, fitness instructor).

The government of Serbia notes that from tomorrow morning, the inspection supervision of compliance with this measure will be intensified – compliance with the allowed space per person inside the facility, as well as the existence of covid guards inside the facility.

An important notice is that cafes and restaurants are allowed to sell food and beverages at a counter, and they can also perform delivery 24 hours a day.

Hotel restaurants and cafes can only serve hotel guests with a registered stay until 9pm.

The Serbian government once again urges citizens to respect all epidemiological measures and appeals to the personal responsibility of all citizens. All measures are introduced in order to protect the health of the population and reduce social contacts to a minimum, but until the final victory over the pandemic, the contribution of all individuals in society is needed.

Vaccination against the infectious disease COVID-19 will continue without interruption according to a pre-determined plan in the coming days.
