Sony Opens a New Chapter in History with Acquisition of Pink Floyd’s Catalogue for Half a Billion Dollars
Sony is opening a new chapter in history as it enters negotiations to acquire the music rights of the legendary English rock band Pink Floyd for around $500 million, reported the Financial Times.
The band’s members were divided due to personal differences, particularly between Roger Waters and David Gilmour, which complicated reaching an agreement, according to FT, citing several people close to the band and Sony.
By 2013, the band, formed in London in 1965, had sold over 250 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
