Slovakia has confirmed its readiness to host peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, according to government officials.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed that Slovakia would be an acceptable platform for dialogue over the conflict. The announcement comes as newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that he may work to end the conflict once he assumes office in January.
“If anyone wants to organize peace talks in Slovakia, we will be ready and welcoming,” Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on Facebook.
Previously, Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar revealed that Slovakia had volunteered to serve as the host country for such negotiations. The move positions Slovakia as a potential mediator in the ongoing conflict.
