Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schalenberg said in an interview with Tanjug on the eve of his visit to Serbia, that the credible European perspective of the Western Balkans is more important now than ever, and that Serbia, which is on the European path, can always count on Vienna’s support.

When asked with what message he is coming to Belgrade, Schalenberg points out that the Russian aggression on Ukraine can cause huge negative consequences for the stability of the entire Western Balkans, which is why, as he says, he comes with a very clear message:

“Because of this serious situation, a credible European perspective is more important than ever. We promised that to the countries of the Western Balkans, and even to Serbia. That is why I will appeal to our Serbian partners to clearly declare themselves in favor of the values of European integration. Serbia can always count on full support on its path to the EU.”
