Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris should be reopened to the public in 2024, French Culture Minister Roma Abdul Malak said.

According to Reuters, Abdul Malak said the clean-up phase of the restoration project has been completed, which will allow restoration work to begin at the end of the summer.

Notre Dame Cathedral has been closed for restoration since a 2019 fire destroyed the roof and tower.

“We are confident that 2024 will be the year when a large part of the work will be completed, the year of reopening the cathedral to the faithful and to the public,” Abdul Malak said during a visit to the site.
