After several months of negotiations with shareholders and various difficulties, the American billionaire and founder of Tesla company Elon Musk is officially the owner of the social network Twitter.
According to Reuters, the new owner has already fired several executives at the company and announced additional layoffs, including CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and the company’s head of legal affairs and policy Vidjay Gade.
Musk has previously accused Twitter management of misleading him and investors about the number of fake accounts on the platform, and said he wants to defeat spambots and make publicly available the algorithms that determine how content is presented to users and prevent the platform from becoming a place of hate and division.
Twitter accepted Musk’s $44 billion offer in April, but the problems followed with the mutual accusations between the company and Musk, which have now been resolved.
