The European Commission has welcomed the appointment of Serbia’s new government under Prime Minister Đuro Macut, highlighting the importance of continued commitment to the European Union accession process.
In a statement, EC Spokesperson Guillaume Mercier emphasized the need for Serbia to advance reforms, particularly in the areas of rule of law and democratic governance, and to align with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Mercier also underscored the significance of progressing in the normalization of relations with Kosovo, in accordance with the agreements facilitated by the EU in 2023.
The new government, led by Prime Minister Macut, has pledged to maintain economic stability, enhance regional cooperation, and prioritize EU integration as a strategic objective.
As Serbia embarks on this new political chapter, the European Commission’s message remains clear: tangible progress in reforms and constructive dialogue are essential for advancing on the path toward EU membership.
